Companion Bird Club of Delaware Valley

Our club successfully raised money to put up a nesting box for the Blue Throats (or Blue Beards as they are called in Bolivia). As of this date the nest is occupied and there is an egg present but it is a Blue and Gold Macaw pair that have chosen our nest to raise a chick. We are happy that our nest is occupied. Even though the Blue and Gold is not endangered, the very presence of this pair of macaws will attract other macaws to this nesting site. Look for future updates on their progress and pictures.

We also donated money to adopt a pair of Blues at Bird Endowment in Texas. Go to birdendowment.org to see our club listed as supporters. Our pair is Diche (means happiness and good luck in Spanish) and Elwood. Diche is a first generation female raised at Bird Endowment. Elwood is second generation captive male who came to Bird Endowment in 2000. Diche and Elwood selected each other while in a flock in 2001. In 2002 they moved to their own habitat.
